A Slow Day To Believe

Monday, September 13th, 2010

It was a slow day at my book signing Saturday at Greetings and Readings, but it didn’t stop me from meeting a few new people. One person I met however, wasn’t someone new, but someone I went to high school with. She had read my book and came there just to see me. After catching up and talking for awhile she told me it’s rare for her to do something like this and it made my day to know she did so simply to see me. I want to thank her again for that. I also met a lady who said she was an atheist, but prays anyway. She is going through a few things and I wish her the best. For some reason her telling me she prays even though she doesn’t believe in God, made me feel good. I’m not religious and if you read my book or follow my blog you know what my beliefs are, but let me just say that a slow day or not, I always seem to get what I need to keep believing in myself and a creator I call God.

My Next Book Signing

Saturday, September 4th, 2010

My next book signing is at Greetings and Readings in the Hunt Valley Towne Center located on 118 Shawan Road in Hunt Valley MD. It’s from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. I love it there and find the people very friendly. Hope to see a few of the ones I’ve met before and of course as always, the people I believe I’m suppose to meet.

My Book Signing

Monday, August 23rd, 2010

My book signing this past Saturday at Borders in York Pa. was one of the best yet. Not because I sold a lot of books, which I didn’t, but because of the people I met there. I always meet new and interesting people at my book signings and also people I know I was suppose to meet and this Saturday was no exception. To those people let me say thank you for buying my book, but more importantly for taking the time to talk with me. It means a lot. Something else that met a lot to me and helped in making this signing one of the best yet, was talking with some old class mates.  One of them who I call my biggest fan showed up to have her book signed and talk for awhile, as did another class mate and his wonderful wife, while another female classmate who just happened to be there, ended up buying a copy of my book and also talking for awhile. If you read my book you’ll understand why it means so much to me to meet new people, especially the ones I know I’m suppose to meet, and you’ll also understand why it felt so good to talk with my old classmates. However, for the purpose of this post let me just say that Saturday went a long way in reminding me how much I’ve grown both spiritually and as a person and how much I love meeting and talking with people at my book signings.

Our Life Experiences

Saturday, August 7th, 2010

I’m very excited about being on a local TV show this August 12th.  The name of the show is An Ordinary Journey and it’s broadcast every Thursday on York Comcast channel 16 between 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The shows host is Leigh Thomas. She also wrote a book called An Ordinary Journey: “Sex, Drugs, Rock N Roll, and Attempted Murder. I can tell you between the title of her book and the phone conversations we’ve had, this is going to be a very good show. Although the subtitle for her book obviuosly makes a bigger statement about her life experiences than the subtitle of my book Why I Pray in the Shower: “A Journey from Fear to Belief in Myself “ does about mine, I’m sure she will agree we can use our experiences to help us become a better person than we were before. Some of her experiences were without a doubt more frightening than mine, but I’m sure Leigh will also agree that we’re both survivors who want to help others find happiness in life. I’m a little nervous about doing the show, but also very excited to get my message out there. One I started over six years ago when I first began writing my book and included in the introduction.  “That everything’s going to be all right, even when it’s not. And that there is indeed some kind of God, and it’s ok to pray to it, even in the shower.”
